Large-scale operation on Tuesday afternoon in the Ried district: Nine fire departments with 17 emergency vehicles and dozens of personnel went to Kirchheim im Innkreis, and just two hours later there were six fire departments in Lohnsburg am Kobernwiederwald, where fire had broken out in a warehouse.
In Kirchheim at 1 p.m. a refrigerator caught fire in a garden shed. The flames spread to the photovoltaic system that was attached to the wooden cladding of the hut. Alert level two has been declared. A technical defect may have caused the fire, the police said on Tuesday afternoon. Four modules of the solar system were damaged by the flames, and the material damage is likely to be considerable. No one was harmed, the executive gave the all-clear.
Hall on fire
After a good two and a half hours, the emergency services were able to move in again. Some of them only had a short respite: At around 3:10 p.m. the next alarm was triggered in the Ried district under the keyword “Fire Industry”. Six fire brigades were deployed in the municipality of Lohnsburg am Kobernwiederwald. Fire broke out in a warehouse in the middle of the town center.
The building, which housed a truck among other things, was fully ablaze. The dark column of smoke could be seen for miles. No one was harmed and the fire is currently under control, said Mayor Robert Weber in an interview with OÖN. The fire departments obtained fire water from a nearby swimming pond. The operation was still ongoing around 5 p.m.
