The government, which initially rejected such an entry requirement, is following a decision by the Supreme Court in Brasília. The health surveillance authority Anvisa had also recommended the measure.

Around 618,000 patients have died in connection with Covid-19 – there are only more deaths in the USA. As the vaccination campaign progressed, the number of deaths fell sharply, and more than 66 percent of the population have now been completely vaccinated.
