Like the Amen in prayer, the Raiffeisen Granitmarathon belongs in the event calendar of athletes, especially mountain bikers. Every year, including this year, mountain bikers from young to old crank out the pedals in Kleinzell im Mühlkreis on the Whitsun weekend.
It starts on Saturday May 18th with the ASVÖ Junior Granitchallenge. Here, children and young people between the ages of 6 and 17 can show what they can do on a mountain bike. Of course, with the smaller kids (U7 and U9), everyone who starts is a winner. The routes are age-appropriate and can be done by everyone, even if they don’t have much bike experience yet. For the older ones, a special treat awaits with the Austrian Youngsters Cup: as part of this Austria-wide children’s and youth racing series, there is more than just one cross-country race to compete in. In addition, the bikers can overcome cool obstacles and technical passages in a technical competition.
The adults will be at the start on Sunday May 19th. Mountain bikers of all levels can get a taste of racing at four different distances. It doesn’t matter whether you drive the circuits to a target time, want to win or whether getting through is the highest priority. Without exception, everyone at the start and also on the track will be electrified by the racing feeling with many spectators.
