On Friday (7:30 p.m.) Bundesliga soccer team LASK welcomes champions Salzburg to the Linzer Gugl. After the fan protests at the game in Graz on Sunday and the resulting bans on six Linz fans during the week, a new level of escalation was reached. “Such an attack on LASK fans cannot and will not go unanswered,” wrote the Linz fan collective “Landstrassler” in a statement on their homepage.

In addition to a boycott, the “Landstrassler” also announced that they did not want to guarantee “normal play” at the home game against Salzburg. An interruption of the game, like in Graz, when the LASK fans protested again against their team’s pink jerseys and threw detergent tablets onto the field, is just as conceivable as a possible abandonment of the game.
