Only the ÖVP candidate, Bernhard Thumfart, is up for election. The SPÖ, as the second parliamentary group represented in the local council, decided not to nominate a challenger. Thumfart has been running the community’s top management as deputy mayor since Leopold Gartner resigned in December of the previous year.
The polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the election results should be available around 2 p.m. What will be particularly exciting is the voter turnout, which is seen, at least unofficially, as an indicator of the acceptance of the new local leader.
