The Ebenseer Glöcklerlauf, which attracts thousands of visitors to the saltworks community on January 5th every year, fell victim to the pandemic last year. There was a curfew.
Today the market town of Ebensee announced that the Glöcklerlauf will be removed from the calendar of events again this year. “In consultation with the authorities, we came to the conclusion that such a large event would not be possible for security reasons,” says Thomas Pfaffenhuemer (SPÖ), chairman of the culture committee.
Pfaffenhuemer has already informed the individual Glöckler passes by telephone. “It is planned that they will run in their districts out of tradition and with a safe distance,” says Mayor Sabine Promberger (SPÖ). “But in the end it is the daily pandemic requirements that decide.”
In the previous year, the Glöcklerlauf could not take place privately because of the curfew. This year, a number of passes in their districts are expected to run in compliance with all security measures. Unless there is another curfew with the fifth wave.
