From a letter that is available at the reception of the four-star establishment “Das Kronthaler” and is currently making the rounds on social media, it emerges that you do not want to check whether guests comply with the applicable Corona rules. According to these, only vaccinated or recovered people are allowed to stay in accommodation establishments.
“The Kronthaler should be an oasis of the greatest possible normality for you. For this we assume that you are protected – immunized, tested, recovered or even vaccinated. Therefore, we do not actively ask you about your health status”, the letters say literally.
“Emotionally reasonable distance”
You can also do without wearing masks, which is unreasonable for the employees anyway. Instead, rely on “emotionally reasonable distance”. Those responsible don’t seem to care that this approach also scares off guests. Because if the orientation of the house is “too little in keeping with the government and the ordinances”, they are happy to be released from their accommodation contract without cancellation costs, it continues.

“Health status is none of my business”
The head of the house, Günther Hlebaina, explained his motivation to the Tiroler Tageszeitung (TT): “I am not the stooge of a state whose regulations are very questionable. The health status of my guests is none of my business.”
He is aware that he is threatened with high penalties for violating the Corona Measures Act. He would defend himself against it, he told the TT. The company is threatened with fines of 3,600 euros. But hotel guests can also be asked to pay up to 1,450 euros. According to Hlebaina, six guests left because of the letter, twelve had therefore only booked.
