Mühlviertler’s hand got into the running saw blade

A 61-year-old was seriously injured while cutting firewood with a chop saw, the police said. A piece of wood may have got caught in the machine, causing the man’s left hand to be thrown upwards directly onto the moving saw blade.

The seriously injured man was able to call his son, who started the rescue chain. The emergency helicopter brought the 61-year-old to the UKH in Linz. No details were known about his condition on Tuesday afternoon.

Wiener parted hand

A similar accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Vienna: In an accident at work in Vienna-Liesing, a man severed his hand. The 57-year-old was caught in a machine and was “very seriously injured” according to the professional rescue spokesman Daniel Melcher.

The ambulance provided the man with emergency medical care before he was taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter. There he was taken straight to a shock room.
