Russia’s war against Ukraine has kept the world in suspense for two years. To mark this occasion, the Working World Museum welcomed the Russia expert, who has since been in demand for his analyzes in many news programs and TV magazines Gerhard Mangott invited to Steyr. He will speak on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. about the origins of the war in Ukraine and scenarios for the future. The evening will be moderated by Susanne Pollinger.
It is the most serious military conflict in Europe in decades, and its consequences cannot be foreseen. Russia’s war in Ukraine is also dividing the world: geopolitically, for example between China and the USA, and ideologically, as the current heated debates about military aid for Ukraine show. But ideology has no place if you want to understand how this war came about and where it will lead.
Mangott, professor of political science with a focus on international relations and security in the post-Soviet region at the University of Innsbruck, analyzes the background, consequences and the question of whether a mass coup from below or a palace revolt against Vladimir Putin is conceivable in Russia – and what that means for Russia, for Europe and for the world.
