Putin advocated equal security throughout the Eurasian space

Russia does not require special conditions for itself, stands for equal and indivisible security throughout the Eurasian space, President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry.

“I want to emphasize again: we do not demand any special, exclusive conditions for ourselves. Russia stands for equal and indivisible security throughout the Eurasian space, ”he said.

On the same day, the representative of the European Commission, Peter Stano, assessed Russia’s proposals on security guarantees. According to him, the European Union should be at the negotiating table, where it will be about European security.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that the United States has not yet responded to Russia’s proposals on security guarantees. At the same time, he allowed a positive development of relations with Washington, if the United States would meet halfway on this issue. At the same time, according to Ryabkov, the States are unlikely to refuse Russia’s proposals.

On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft agreements between Russia and the United States and NATO on security guarantees. As follows from the documents, in particular, the alliance should refuse to conduct any military activity on the territory of Ukraine and other states of Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia. According to a White House source, the US presidential administration found some of the proposals useful and others unacceptable.

As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko emphasized, Moscow’s proposals on security guarantees do not contain a hidden agenda, they are clear and frank.
