In an interview with Telemundo, Hershkovitz, who is currently in Israelstated that the Iranian attack generated “an enormous escalation in the conflict” and that there is a certain risk against Israeli objectives at the regional level.

“Iran and their allies have made many threats against the Israelis and the Jewish community around the world, and we always take these threats seriously,” the diplomat explained.
In that sense, he called on the international community to prevent Iran continue developing its nuclear program and positively valued the support of the Uruguayan government in the face of the attack and the conflict in Gaza (Palestine) against Hamas.
“Uruguay has walked alongside Israel for many years, since the establishment of the State of Israel and during these last months. The reaction of the Uruguayan government goes in the direction of that same line,” he pointed out.
Likewise, he maintained that the support he received Israel in the last hours by Western countries, being Uruguay part of this group of nations, is explained by the fact that “we share the same values and we fight terrorism all together.”
Uruguay condemned Iran’s attack
Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRREE) condemned the recent attack by Iran against Israel and regretted the worsening of the conflict and “the consequences it could entail for the tragic humanitarian situation and civilian victims in the region.”
In turn, it was reported that there is permanent contact with the embassies in the region, to evaluate the development of events as the days go by.
