From week to week, the Mühlviertel Volleys women’s team is currently in impressive form in the Bundesliga relegation. This was also the case this weekend, when after almost exactly two hours of play, the Pergers, who started from the second division, were able to celebrate a 3-2 victory against the first division team ASKÖ Volksbank Purgstall. In their first meeting at home in the Donauwell Arena in Perg, the Mühlviertler women won 3-2 in an exciting game.
“It’s unbelievable what the players did again today. In front of the impressive backdrop with the many home fans in Purgstall, they had the nerves to do everything we planned to do before the game, so you need great team spirit. Only everyone can do that “I would like to congratulate each player on this great game. It makes me very proud,” said coach Lydia Trauner after the game. With eight wins and only one defeat, the Mühlviertler team, second in the table, is already confirmed as the most successful team in the relegation to the first Bundesliga before the last game – deducting the bonus points awarded before the start.
Leading the table is possible
If the M4V Bundesliga Girls also win the match against Bad Radkersburg with three points in their last home game on April 27th, they could even push the table leaders – the first division team from Bisamberg-Hollabrunn – from the top. “That would of course be the icing on the cake at the end of this really long season,” says M4V sports director Josef Trauner.
Whatever the end of the season may bring in terms of sport, there will be no promotion for the young Perger team this year (yet). The club has already deposited this with the volleyball association. “It’s still too early for the first Bundesliga. But I’m so happy for the players, the coaches and everyone in the background that they’ve shown what could already be possible,” says Josef Trauner.
In order to bring the season, which has so far been so successful, to a fitting end, the Donauwell Arena will once again be transformed into a cauldron for the double home game on Saturday, April 27th. The men of the Mühlviertel Volleys start at 4.30 p.m. against Aich/Dob 2. At 7 p.m. the women await the bottom of the table, TUS Bad Radkersburg. Josef Trauner: “There will be a great buffet again and we would all be happy to have many fans and spectators.”
