students must show the vaccination card against coronavirus to start the school year

“This means that just as they present the children’s vaccination card at the time of entering pre-kindergarten or kindergarten, in the same way they will request the vaccination card or vaccination certificate from minors who enter school,” explained the official, quoted by the Sputnik news agency.

The statement, published by the state agency ABI, came after inquiries about the scope of an agreement signed last week by the national government and regional governments to, among other objectives, speed up the vaccination of the population between five and 18 years of age. .

According to the deputy minister, the Government decided to include the coronavirus in the list of diseases regularly covered by the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI) and whose compliance is mandatory for all students.

“It has been determined that vaccination for the fight against the pandemic enters the EPI or regular vaccination; this means that parents will be asked to present the immunization card for school registrations for next year,” said Hidalgo.

Vaccination against the coronavirus in Bolivia is voluntary, but almost all regional governments asked the Government to make it mandatory at least for children and adolescents.

The decision of the Government of President Luis Arce was applauded by several officials, including the mayor of La Paz, the opposition Iván Arias.

The population eligible to be vaccinated in Bolivia is 10.2 million people, including some three million minors between the ages of five and 18 recently included in the campaign, according to official figures.

As of Monday, the vaccination program had reached 9.4 million applications, of which just over 800,000 were to children and adolescents, between first and second doses.
