Shopping week in Wels: The red carpet is rolled out

The next Wels shopping night will take place on Friday, May 3rd.

After the premiere in September 2023, there will be a new edition of the Wels Shopping Week from April 29th to May 4th. In addition to the Welser Kaufleute, XXXLutz and the shopping centers max.center and SCW are also taking part again with a colorful program and activities. “These are shopping magnets that have an appeal far beyond Wels, we are joining forces,” said Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP) at a joint press conference yesterday.

The furniture giant, which has its headquarters in Wels, will once again roll out a red carpet in downtown Wels, a total of one kilometer long. “As a visible sign that something special is happening in the city again,” says XXXLutz company spokesman Thomas Saliger. They want to use the advertising power to bring many consumers from the large catchment area to Wels. This year, a different adhesive is being used for the “red catwalk” because last year adhesive residue was visible on the pavement for many weeks.

Michael Wipplinger, chairman of the Wels merchants’ team, is convinced of the concept. “We find both the temporal and spatial expansion of the shopping week appealing; this is the only way we can be an attractive experience location for the whole of Austria,” he says. The downtown merchants will offer live music, tastings, fashion presentations, craft demonstrations and much more during the shopping week and at the shopping night on Friday, May 3rd.

On May 3rd, there will be an autograph session at the SCW with the professional cyclists from the Felt-Felbermayr team. You can win an e-bike worth 3,000 euros. In the max.center you can win prizes on the wheel of fortune, shopping bags and for the youngest visitors there is a Punch and Judy show on the program.

City marketing boss Peter Jungreithmair draws attention to the cash-back campaign with the Wels Card. Customers who shop with partners during the shopping week will receive 20 percent of the purchase value back, up to a maximum of 80 euros, which will be booked onto the Wels Card. (krai)
