These are ambitious goals that the Mehrnbach entrepreneur Christian Pumberger formulated during an OÖN local inspection in the “Weinwerk Christian” restaurant and in his own vineyard. “My goal is that we will be able to welcome around 20,000 people on our wine tours in Mehrnbach in 2025.”
The restaurant opened in fall 2022 with an indoor and outdoor area of more than 1,000 square meters. From the restaurant you can see the vineyard, which was planted a little over seven years ago. There is also a 4D cinema. During the tours, which are around one and a half hours long and are offered for groups of ten people or more, an elaborately produced image film including wind, water and smell effects is presented.
“It gives you the feeling of standing right in the vines,” says Pumberger. A welcome including frizzante and a visit to the vineyard and the wine cellar are further program items. In addition, a small shop is being built where, in addition to the in-house wine, other regional products can be purchased.
“Offer something unique”
Pumberger is convinced that the wine tours in the Innviertel “beer region” will be a great success. “I believe that we offer something unique. Hardly anyone in Upper Austria has a 4D cinema like this,” says the entrepreneur, who is also the managing director of Pumberger Building Technology. This year the goal is to have around 5,000 guests on the tours; from 2025, the expectation is that there will be four times as many visitors on the tours.
