President Luis Lacalle Pou will travel this Wednesday to Argentina, where he plans to participate in an event for business leaders where he will also speak Javier Milei, so that in that scenario the long summit between both leaders could take place.

The event is the Llao Llao Forum, which has been held annually since 2012 in the city of Bariloche and brings together important businessmen. The president of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, With which Lacalle Pou will have the possibility of strengthening ties with two pairs of neighboring countries with which it has some visions in common, among them the flexibility of the Mercosur.

The event will begin this Wednesday and will last until Friday, when Milei will lead the closing. However, the Llao Llao schedule is unknown, so it is not confirmed that the leaders will meet.

Leaders from large companies will participate in the Forum, including the founder of Mercado Libre, Marcos Galperin, as well as the founder of Globant, Martin Migoya, among others.

The points of contact between Lacalle Pou and Milei and a postponed summit

The victory of Milei in the elections Argentina suggested better harmony between the government of the neighboring country and the Uruguayan, but so far a summit could not be held with Lacalle Pou, who was present during the libertarian’s inauguration.

Beyond the lack of a meeting, there were several direct and indirect gestures of the new management that benefited the country. Among the most outstanding are the measures taken by the president that resulted in the significant reduction of the price gap, that stopped the exodus of Uruguayans to take advantage of the exchange difference on the other side.

Another important milestone was the authorization to advance dredging 14 meters from the Port of Montevideo, that will favor the positioning of Uruguay as a regional hub, within the framework of a negotiation that had been going on for around a decade.

Furthermore, in the bilateral relationship, Milei sought to generate elements so that importers from that country can settle the debts commercial, which in the case of Uruguayan exporters They amount to at least 200 million dollars, according to industry estimates.
