The United States and the United Kingdom secretly dispatched a team of cybersecurity specialists to Ukraine. On December 21, the American newspaper New York Times reported this on its website.
As specified, the West wants to help Kiev be prepared for the allegedly impending cyber attacks from Russia. Western experts intend to protect the power grids and banking systems of the Ukrainian state.
The arrival of Western specialists in Ukraine, as well as their departure from their native countries, were not advertised.

At the same time, the US Department of Justice brought charges against 28-year-old Ukrainian citizen Yaroslav Vasinsky under articles related to cyber fraud. In addition, the US authorities took action against Vasinsky’s ally, 22-year-old Russian hacker Yevgeny Polyanin.
According to the American side, Vasinsky carried out about 2.5 thousand attacks using special ransomware, receiving funds in the amount of $ 2.3 million, which were paid to him by the victims to unblock the systems infected with the programs.
The United States believes that Vasinsky and his accomplices allegedly wrote malicious software, first using it in April 2019 and updating it regularly. The victims of the software were 10 American companies in eight states, whose names were not disclosed.
