“You have to say it again and again. Ried is a city of short distances. Everything can be reached within a few minutes on foot or by bike,” said Helmut Slezak, managing director of Ried city marketing, at a press conference on Tuesday. Among other things, information was provided about the upcoming shopping night on Friday, May 3rd, by the Rieder Wirtschaft, the Weberzeile and the city marketing. “We’re hoping for a summer fairy tale in Ried,” said Slezak, adding: “For the first time this year, there will be a ‘tossing of percentages’ on a 20-meter-long carpet at the upper main square. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., all visitors to the shopping center can Night with a cushion “create” your “discounts” at the 19 participating stores. There are various discount fields up to 15 percent. These discounts will be deducted from the next purchase (until Mother’s Day). Participation is free. The shops are open until 9 p.m. and the restaurants are of course open until the evening and night hours.

“Ried is the hub for the entire region and beyond. That’s why we work very closely with the s’Innviertel tourism association,” emphasized Ried’s mayor Bernhard Zwielehner.

Platzlwirt is there

There is good news for fans of the Innviertel tavern culture: During the shopping night, the Platzlwirt will also open its doors and serve drinks and small snacks. “Manika’s Thai Kitchen”, a second new restaurant that opens on May 2nd at Roßmarkt 17, will be part of the Ried shopping night.

There is also a colorful program for the whole family at the lower main square. The crane from the Ried Volunteer Fire Department goes high up. Once at the top there is a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the surrounding area. There is also a Red Cross bouncy castle, face painting and a photo wall. The other inner-city Rieder squares will also have a varied program when the weather is hopefully nice. There will be live music from the Maiden Voyage trio in front of the wine bar on Stelzhamerplatz, as well as summery sounds from DJ Fab Toulouse from the Kunst im Keller (KiK) pop-up stage.

100 parking spaces for bikes

City marketing wants to continue to push the switch to bicycles. For this reason, the Shopping Night will feature a large bicycle parking lot with more than 100 parking spaces for the first time. “There is a general need for more parking spaces for bicycles in Ried,” said city marketing boss Slezak.
