Eight million euros will be invested in the second construction phase of the Peilstein bypass. The construction machinery has already been deployed and the bypass should be completely completed in 2025.
Construction phase two is around 600 meters long. These are quite something, as three bridges are part of the project. In addition, three amphibian protection passages and two bus stops will also be built.
“With this important measure, the effectiveness of the Peilstein bypass will be fully established. This will further develop the regional infrastructure and make it future-proof. The construction work, which began on April 15, is scheduled to be completed in July 2025,” says Infrastructure Regional Councilor Günther Steinkellner.
In this construction phase, among other things, soil improvements and earthworks will be carried out in the area of the commuter parking lot. For this purpose, around 3,300 vibrating tamping columns will be installed. This improves the load-bearing capacity. The road conditions on the L1551 Hinterschlager Straße no longer meet the requirements for safety and fluidity of traffic due to both the new traffic importance and the strong increase in traffic. What makes matters worse is that there is a business area with parking spaces adjacent to the existing L1551 in this section. The crossing factory traffic will have a further negative impact on traffic safety on the future section of the B38 Böhmerwald Straße. A total closure of two calendar weeks is unavoidable for the asphalting work. The diversion for these will be announced and signposted as soon as possible.
