Ukraine will strengthen border with Russia with anti-transport ditches

Ukrainian border guards will strengthen sections of the border with Russia in the Sumy region with anti-transport ditches. This is stated in a message published on Tuesday, December 21, on the website of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“In particular, the construction of the Ukrainian-Russian section of the state border with anti-transport ditches continues on the section of the Sumy border detachment,” the statement says.

At the same time, the border service added that a complex mechanized engineering group is engaged in such work with the help of special equipment.

Earlier, on December 21, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas said that the Baltic countries are ready to provide Ukraine with various assistance, including military. According to him, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the inviolability of its borders.

On December 20, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called on NATO to develop a plan against Russia. He added that NATO must respond not only by concentrating its troops on the eastern flank, but also by strengthening its military capabilities.

On December 12, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that Western countries, under the guise of instructors, are deploying “militants” to Ukraine. She clarified that Ukraine is being pumped up with weapons.

Articles about the alleged possible Russian invasion have appeared in the Western media on several occasions. So, on November 19, The New York Times reported that the US administration had warned the allies about the alleged plans of the Russian Federation to attack the territory of Ukraine and called for new anti-Russian measures to be prepared.

On November 21, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the West is artificially stirring up hysteria with its statements about the alleged preparation of Russia for an attack on Ukraine. According to him, provocations are not ruled out, and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance should stop “pumping up Ukraine with modern weapons.”
