Fire broke out in an apartment on the ground floor late in the afternoon. This residential unit was completely destroyed by the flames. Thick smoke quickly spread through the stairwell. The first emergency services were alerted at around 5:15 p.m.
Critical scenes took place. A resident on the second floor jumped out of the window out of fear and suffered injuries. The firefighters came to the aid of the other residents who had escaped to the balconies with a turntable ladder.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the house is currently uninhabitable due to smoke damage. Intensive ventilation measures have already been carried out. On Friday evening, the community tried to organize temporary accommodation for eleven residents.
14 residents taken to hospital
According to the rescue service, a total of 14 residents were taken to hospitals in Braunau and Salzburg for examination. It was about suspected smoke poisoning and various fractures.
According to initial information, the cause of the fire could have been an e-scooter that was hanging at the charging station.
