A festive concert dedicated to the New Year’s celebrations was held in Damascus for 700 children left without fathers during the war in Syria.
It is noted that the holiday was held in the Russian style with the participation of artists from Moscow. Children were carried away by whistle toys, master classes on painting nesting dolls and Santa Claus.
The program of the performance consisted of several parts: the play “Yolka”, the fairy tale “Aladdin”, drawn by a Russian artist using sand, and a dance from Syrian children. Before the concert, the children were entertained by volunteers.
The gifts were presented to children from the Moscow government, said Igor Tkach, a member of the parliamentary delegation of the Russian Federation in the SAR, deputy head of the department for foreign economic and international relations of the city of Moscow.
“I wanted to create a festive mood for the children of Damascus. On behalf of Moscow, we handed over gifts to the children, handed over the Christmas trees that have already been installed in the opera (House of Culture and Art al-Assad. – Ed.), In the embassy [России], in the temple of the Moscow Patriarchate. And, of course, this will create the preconditions for friendship between schoolchildren in Moscow and Damascus, ”he said.
According to the coordinator of the State Duma group for relations with the Syrian parliament, Dmitry Sablin, today more and more schoolchildren in Syria want to learn Russian, although five years ago such a phenomenon would seem strange.
As part of the delegation, in addition to representatives of the State Duma, there were also employees of the Moscow government, the administration of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and public figures from the organization of veterans “Combat Brotherhood”.
On October 23, it became known that the artists of the State Academic Siberian Russian Folk Choir gave a concert in Syrian Damascus. They performed at the best concert venue, the Opera House, which is considered one of the largest in the Arab world. The Siberian costumes, decorated with furs and stones, also made an impression.
