On the occasion of the 600th birthday of the astronomer Georg von Peuerbach, the second communale oö took place in Peuerbach after Eferding last year. Under the title “Cosmos. New Worlds” there was a colorful variety of cultural offerings for five months, with more than 20,000 visitors counted. At the weekend, after the renovation phase, the permanent exhibition “Kosmos. New Worlds – Georg von Peuerbach and his legacy” opened in the Peuerbach Castle Museum.
In the future, there will be an exciting educational program on the topics of astronomy and space travel every third weekend of the month.
“Georg von Peuerbach was an important humanist and the most important astronomer of his time. The communale has brought his work and influence into the present – the permanent exhibition in the castle is an excellent opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the world of astronomy and space travel,” emphasized State Governor Thomas Stelzer at the opening. In keeping with the spirit of the communale, which relies heavily on communication and participation, there will be a special program that, in addition to classic tours for adults and school groups, will also be held every third weekend from April to June and September to December from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Supergalactic family weekend” with different focuses in the program. Guided tours are also offered for groups outside of regular opening hours. There will also be events organized by the Gahberg Observatory team.
