More than half of Afghanistan’s population is suffering from too little to eat. Corona, the worst drought in decades and the economic crisis after the Taliban came to power had led the country into the abyss, the aid organization emphasized in a broadcast on Wednesday.
“A solution must be found quickly to ensure that the population no longer pays the price for sanctions imposed by the West on some people in the government,” demanded Red Cross President Gerald Schöpfer. “There is a lack of government support from abroad everywhere, especially in the health sector and in the government.”
The Red Cross is distributing oil, flour, lentils, rice, green tea, sugar, salt and biscuits to around 210,000 people in Afghanistan so that they can survive the next few weeks of winter. Link to the donation page
