This is what the containers of the Linz Süd primary care unit should look like

A constructive meeting with city politicians, a visualization and an ambitious new opening date: the plans for the primary care unit (PVE) in Ebelsberg are becoming more concrete. As reported, up to 10,000 patients could be cared for there, thereby alleviating the shortage of doctors in the south of Linz. The ÖGK and the Medical Association have already given the green light, and the property owner, the WSF private foundation, is also on board.

Containers as a temporary solution

The PVE is part of the urban development project on the former barracks area. Containers are being built as a temporary solution and the location has already been determined. Instead of July 1st, the PVE is now scheduled to open on April 1st, 2025. In order to achieve this, rapid official procedures are required, for example when it comes to building permits and connection work.

In any case, the project has the necessary political support. Mayor Klaus Luger and City Councilor for Planning Dietmar Prammer (both SP) speak of a collaboration between the city and the WSF Foundation, while City Councilor for Health Michael Raml (FP) speaks of a milestone. The ground has been prepared, now a final effort is needed, says VP club chairwoman Michaela Sommer.

The state now has to at least temporarily lift the existing construction ban due to the route being kept clear for an eastern bypass.

Not only the PVE will move into more than 1,000 square meters, but also a pharmacy and a radiologist. Three young general practitioners have already been found for the start, and the fourth position is initially shared by experienced colleagues from the Enns primary care center.
