The Frente Amplista candidate gave the reasons why he does not support the plebiscite for the retirement reform.

The presidential candidate for Broad Front, Yamandú Orsi, spoke about him plebiscite driven by the Pit-Cnt who intends to modify the brand new retirement system approved last year and expressed the opinion that he does not agree with the way in which the initiative is worded and that is why he does not agree with it.

This Saturday they will be delivered to the Parliament the signatures to promote the plebiscite, which will be received by the vice president of the Republic, Beatriz Argimón. Which means that the central office has less than a week left until the deadline for collecting the necessary signatures expires.

The authorization of the plebiscite requires more than 270,000 signatures, equivalent to 10% of the electoral roll for internal elections, although it is always necessary to exceed that number due to signatures that could be annulled due to errors or inconsistencies after a review.

Orsi’s opinion

Asked by the press this Monday, Orsi assured that he does not support the initiative because he does not agree with the way it is worded. “That citizens have to resolve later is not a worrying factor. I simply do not support the proposal because of how it is worded, but we should never be worried about something that involves involving society in a discussion, which of course we will have to have,” he assured.

However, he admitted that plebiscite It is united by its objective, which is to position itself against the reform approved in the past. “We are united by the opposition to the reform – on the social Security– that this government carried out, we do not consider that it was a good reform and we do not consider that it solves the problems, I think that some accentuate them,” he explained.

“The formula that was chosen and the text that was decided to be incorporated into the popular consultation does not convince me. It is not that I am against a move that aims at the same objective as us, but it does not seem like the best path to us,” the candidate concluded.
