Now three other perpetrators and the head of the gang have been arrested or reported. The investigations into other gang members are ongoing.
As reported, one of the two 16-year-olds originally investigated had confessed to the fact. All three boys without a migrant background were then shown at large. In the course of their interrogations, both the 16-year-old and one of his two other colleagues said they were beaten up by three boys in Linz on November 24th and forced not to testify to the police.
As a result, these three perpetrators – a 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds – were investigated using video surveillance and arrested on the Friday before last. The two 16-year-olds partly confessed. They were taken to the prison in Linz and their 14-year-old colleague was reported at large.
Cobra officials arrested leaders
Yesterday, the 20-year-old leader of the gang was arrested by Cobra officials in an apartment in Linz-Ebelsberg. The Linz native refused to testify, he was also brought to the JA.
A police spokeswoman said yesterday that he is suspected of having incited all gang members to commit crimes.
For example, it was originally planned to pour gasoline over a police officer and set it on fire. When this failed, the police car was set on fire. The investigators assume that the gang consists of a total of around 20 members.
The rest are now being sought for further crimes.
