The 39-year-old also has to answer on suspicion of faking an act that could be punished, the public prosecutor’s office said in a broadcast on Thursday. A date for the court hearing has not yet been set. The father or his defense now has 14 days to object to the charges. The man was most recently in custody on urgent suspicion of a crime.

Originally it was assumed that the case was a robbery of the father. The man is said to have been knocked unconscious with a bottle and robbed by an unknown person on a promenade next to the Ache that night. The six-year-old is said to have gotten out of the stroller on his own, fallen into the stream and drowned there.
No robber found
But after months of intensive investigations in which no trace of the alleged robber emerged, the 39-year-old German was targeted and was finally arrested on February 27, 2023. He is said to have killed the boy and faked the robbery. Concrete investigation results are said to weigh heavily on him.
