The National Union of Workers and Transport Workers (Unott) announced that this Thursday they will continue with the force measures after not having reached an agreement with the transport company Copsa and they threatened to extend it until tomorrow with the accession of three suburban transport companies.
The decision was made by the union due to a “lack of progress in negotiations with the company,” as reported in a statement. In that sense, they recalled that since Copsa They continue to fail to meet their salary obligations to their workers.
The union did not rule out a possible mobilization for this Thursday and announced that, if an agreement is not reached with Copsa, three suburban transport companies will join the demands through a 24-hour strike this Friday. The companies are: Casanova, Suburbanos de CITA and Tala Pando.
A meeting without agreement
Yesterday, in the building of the Ministry of Labor and Public Works (MTOP)a meeting was held where representatives of Unott, of the Ministry of Economy and company leaders Copsa.
Faced with the company’s proposal, which consisted of the payment of the salary owed for March in the first days of May, the union decided to reject the proposal.
According to the general manager of the company, Javier Cardoso, to Radio Carve, the company still owes 30% of the March floor to its workers. The manager said that salary obligations would be completed this week, since they are supposedly waiting for the collection of a trust fund of 14 million dollars, but government approval is still needed. The shortfall would be paid during this week “as income is received,” he assured.
For its part, since Copsa They intend for the government to make possible a bridge loan or advance of the trust that is planned for the suburban transportation sector – which, in total, is around 14 million dollars – which, beyond allowing the completion of compliance with obligations salaries, contribute to regularizing the financial situation of the company.
However, since MTOP They maintain that although the portfolio is the regulator of the transportation system, it is not appropriate for it to pay the workers’ salaries.
