The largest gas fields in Ukraine are at the final stage of exploitation, in some cases they are 80% devastated. This was reported on Wednesday, December 22, by the press service of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
“Our largest gas fields are quite depleted and are at the final stage of exploitation. We have been mining for such a long time that sometimes the devastation of the fields reaches 80%, “- said in a statement published on Facebook.
At the same time, Naftogaz of Ukraine announced the work on increasing its own production of blue fuel. The company applies new technologies and management approaches, constantly studies and develops promising subsoil areas, the statement says.
At the same time, the head of the board of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, said on December 23 that the company was forced to buy gas at any price. He added that his own gas production is not enough. In this regard, Naftogaz intends to raise funds on international markets.
The day before, Naftogaz Ukrainy filed a complaint with the European Commission (EC), in which it asked to oblige Gazprom to put up for sale through an electronic platform significant volumes of gas for delivery through the Ukrainian territory. A day later, a representative of the European Commission confirmed the receipt of the request from Naftogaz of Ukraine.
On December 17, Vitrenko admitted that the company would not be able to keep gas tariffs for citizens at the current level due to the rise in fuel prices in Europe, where, according to him, gas prices rose seven times over the year. Currently, the Ukrainian government is working to ensure that citizens do not overpay seven times.
On December 13, Vitrenko said that the storage facilities had “normal volume of gas” and “there should be no problems with the passage of winter.” At the same time, he noted that a difficult situation with coal has developed in the country, but the company can insure power generating enterprises.
