The eighth time the attempt remained, the Slovenian was blown. According to media reports, he was taken into custody. The police are now investigating those who paid the suspect to get a valid Covid certificate without a “stab”.
The man got the cans from a vaccination center in the Gorenjska region (Upper Carniola) between May and December, the police in Kranj said. He only received small amounts of money for multiple vaccinations. The four suspects had “taken advantage of his difficult social situation and personal circumstances and encouraged him to commit the crime regardless of his health,” said a police spokesman. A prison sentence of up to three years is threatened for such certificate fraud.
During the vaccinations, the man is said to have identified himself with the documents of the other people. From the vaccination center in Kranj it was said that in addition to the insurance card – it only says name and date of birth – the identification document is also checked. However, the media reported that one did not rule out having overlooked something in the crowd.
There had already been media reports in Slovenia before that people in precarious social situations had themselves repeatedly vaccinated in exchange for money on behalf of other people. However, this is the first case the police have investigated.
