“Braunau can do more”, a private initiative across all social groups – from business, church, culture and civil society – is convinced. Therefore, on Friday, January 7th, a peaceful rally will be held in memory of the more than 13,000 Covid deaths. A sign is being set for all those who are particularly hard hit by the pandemic.
It starts at 6.30 p.m. At 7 p.m. candles are lit (or lit with the mobile phone) – then 15 minutes of silence follows. “We do without everything that is loud: no megaphones, whistles or anything else,” says the organizers. Flyers and banners of any kind are also not welcome.
This rally is one “from civil society FOR society”, it is emphasized. January 7th is the starting point for further such initiatives in the Braunau district, it has been announced.
