Last weekend it came to a temporary climax when a driver fled from the police, lost control of his high-horsepower car and crashed into the display of a shop in Traun.

The affected property owners met today with the city and the police to discuss measures. It is conceivable to lock off affected parking spaces outside of business hours or monitor them with camera systems. There should also be increased cooperation with the state of Upper Austria and neighboring communities. “It is important that sustainable solutions are found so that the problem does not simply shift to other places,” says Traun Mayor Karl-Heinz Koll.

The radar car put into operation this year shows how serious the problem is. Last weekend alone, according to the city’s announcement, 92 speeding violations – some over 130 km/h – were recorded at the poser scene meeting.
