The police arrested several traffic offenders in the trade fair city on Friday evening: two drug drivers were stopped during checks on two traffic lanes in the city of Wels. A 26-year-old from the Wels-Land district had to give up his driver’s license because of drug use while driving; a 32-year-old Wels was no longer able to do so because his driving license had been revoked years ago.

Moped tuned

A moped driver can expect eight charges for illegal modifications to his two-wheeler. The test showed that the vehicle exceeded the maximum permitted speed by a good 30 km/h, the police reported on Saturday. Two new driver’s license holders also have to expect charges and probably also an extension of their probationary period: A young man was traveling at 108 km/h instead of the permitted 70 km/h, a woman was racing at 99 km/h through an area where the maximum speed was 60 km/h would have been allowed.

There were even more reports in a traffic hotspot on Friday in the greater Linz area: the police issued hundreds of reports on Friday. Read more here.
