This weekend is perfect for the garden: spring is back! The OÖN is looking for the most beautiful gardens, balconies and terraces in the country. Numerous Upper Austrians have already applied. A jury led by organic gardener Karl Ploberger selects the most promising gardens based on the uploaded images and information, which are then visited – and presented in the OÖNachrichten.
Garden recipe for happiness
“A garden brings life up close to us, the blossoming, the ripening, the decay – a garden reflects life,” says garden philosopher and organic gardener Karl Ploberger.
The garden is his recipe for happiness, his happiness hormone, his flowering antidepressant. All year round, but of course especially in spring, when everything is green and blooming. “Now the desire for gardening is really awakened,” says the organic gardener, who has been writing for the OÖN for 25 years. This year he is the chief juror of the OÖN garden election for the eighth time. All gardeners are invited to take part – owners of large green paradises, allotment gardens, lushly planted balconies, modern terraces, natural oases, fruit and vegetable gardens and green paradises throughout the country for young and old.
