They rocked their e-scooters over obstacles without making any mistakes, knew the right answers to the safety quiz and also showed a lot of skill with the extinguishing syringe: The children from the 4i class at the elementary school in Steyrdorf won the Child Safety Olympics, which is currently being held as a preliminary round for the Steyr-Stadt and -Land districts of Upper Austria. Civil defense was organized in Steyr.
The girls and boys from Steyrdorf won the district competition ahead of their school’s one-year-younger year from the 3i class and their peers from the 3a class at the elementary school in Wehrgraben. Vice Mayor Anna-Maria Demmelmayr, Civil Defense District Manager Karin Nosko and the District Governor of Steyr-Land, Barbara Spöck, congratulated the children on their successes. The children’s knowledge test was rewarded with demonstrations by the emergency services organizations: the fire brigade, police and Red Cross showed off their vehicles and equipment and talked about their missions. The winners of the district decision will take part in the state finals on June 3rd in Traun. The number of 3,500 children taking part in the “Safety Tour” is a new record this year.
