In Belarus, they requested 11 years of imprisonment for the Russian citizen Dudnikov

In Belarus, the prosecutor requested 11 years in prison for the Russian citizen Yegor Dudnikov. This was announced on Thursday, December 23, by the human rights center Viasna, unregistered by the authorities of the republic, in its Telegram channel.

Dudnikov is charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus – part 3 of Art. 130 (“Inciting hatred”) and part 3 of Art. 361 (“Calls for actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus”).

According to the center, a criminal case was opened against the Russian due to the fact that he dubbed videos for the Belarusian opposition.

Russian Yegor Dudnikov was detained on May 5 in Minsk on charges of organizing actions that violate public order. He was arrested.

On June 2, the Russian consul visited Dudnikov in the Minsk jail. According to the diplomat, the arrested person feels fine and does not complain about the conditions of detention.

On July 14, Dudnikov fully pleaded guilty. Then it was reported that he was charged under Part 1 of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (“Organization of actions grossly violating public order”), according to which the defendant could face up to three years in prison.

Protests were held in Belarus after the presidential elections on August 9, 2020, which were won by the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko. The opposition declared the ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who had left for Lithuania, as the winner of the elections. On her initiative, opposition representatives announced the creation of a coordinating council for the transit of power. Tikhanovskaya is a defendant in criminal cases, included in the list of persons involved in terrorist activities.
