The emergency departments of local hospitals are increasingly at capacity and patients complain about long waiting times. This is partly because people come to the emergency room with complaints that don’t belong here. “Patients also come with simple concerns such as a skin rash or a tick bite. However, a family doctor or specialist would be the right contact person for these,” says Thomas Urich, head of the emergency room at the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck. No one will be turned away, but a decision will be made based on urgency as to who goes first.
