According to a press release on Thursday, the 2G obligation will be introduced for all staff, including auxiliaries of the dicasteries, institutions and offices of the Roman Curia and the institutions associated with the Holy See. Up until now, 3G was mandatory in the Vatican.
The 2G obligation also extends to external employees, as well as personnel from external companies and all visitors. Vatican employees without a vaccination certificate will be suspended from duty without a salary.
Vatican employees in contact with the public must certify from January 31, 2022 that they have received a booster vaccination, the Vatican said. The regulation affects the territory of the Vatican State as well as all extraterritorial institutions in the city of Rome and in Castel Gandolfo.
