Fire brigade, rescue, emergency doctor, rescue helicopter and police were on duty in the municipality of Bad Zell (Freistadt district) on Tuesday at lunchtime: Two cars collided near the town of Aich at around 12:10 p.m. for reasons that are still unclear. The impact was so violent that both vehicles were thrown into the adjacent meadow. Emergency services from the Liebenstein fire department, who happened to pass the scene of the accident, raised the alarm.
When the Bad Zell and Schönau fire departments arrived, one of those involved was already being looked after by the first responders outside his car. An accident victim had to be freed from the wreckage by emergency services. The rescue helicopter took the injured man to a hospital, the FF Schönau said.
