At around 7:30 a.m., a 39-year-old Hungarian noticed a woman floating in the water of the mill aisle. He immediately jumped into the stream and brought her to the bank, where two other witnesses, a woman and a man, had already called 911.

Resuscitated with a defibrillator

All three provided first aid, and the woman was ultimately resuscitated with the help of a police defibrillator, the police said in a release. The first responders managed to get the woman to show vital signs again after 15 minutes. The rescue transported her to the Graz State Hospital; her condition is stable. According to initial investigations, there was no foul play, according to the police.

It was not until the end of 2023 that the Styrian police were equipped with defibrillators across the board.
