Two cars collided shortly before 5 p.m. for a previously unknown cause, reported the Güssing district fire brigade command and the Burgenland State Security Center.
The Rauchwart and Stegersbach fire departments as well as an emergency helicopter and several rescue cars were on duty. The injured were taken to hospital, it said. The federal highway had to be closed for an hour for the clean-up work and traffic had to be rerouted locally.
