According to police reports, the woman from the St. Pölten district drove her car into the oncoming lane and collided with a tractor-trailer. The 47-year-old driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to Krems University Hospital by rescue.
The crash occurred around 9:15 a.m. Both vehicles left the highway due to the force of the collision.
According to the Lower Austria State Police Directorate, the truck’s tank was damaged. Around 400 liters of diesel fuel leaked. On the orders of the Krems district administration, the affected soil was dug up and disposed of. The S5 was closed between the Jettsdorf junction and the Theiß junction for almost three hours, and a local diversion was in place.
