Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks with Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog. On Friday, December 24, the Kremlin press service reported.
“The presidents exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the New Year, and also discussed a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the humanitarian sphere,” the message says.
The heads of state also paid special attention to the general task of preserving the historical truth about World War II and countering attempts to revise its results.
In October, talks were held in Sochi between Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. The meeting lasted over five hours.
The meeting was warm and positive, the leaders discussed significant issues in relations between the two countries, including bilateral trade, as well as further interaction between the countries on Syria and Iran, the Israeli prime minister’s office told reporters.
In addition, Bennett said that the potential for economic, scientific, cultural and technological cooperation between Israel and the Russian Federation is limitless.
On June 13, Israel approved a new government, headed by Naftali Bennett. On June 15, Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov announced that Russia will continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the new Israeli government.
