The cement industry of the autonomous entity continued to increase its production in the month of March.
The production of portland of Ancap It grew by 20% year-on-year during the first quarter of the year, when compared to the same period in 2023, after the autonomous entity’s loss-making cement industry generated more tonnage during the months of January, February and March.

In January 2023, the cement industry in Ancap had produced 19,625 tons of portland, while during the first month of the current year there were a total of 21,545 tons, that is, an increase of 1,920 tons and a variation of more than 9.78%. In both periods, 100% clinker—the main component of the product—was used. Ancap.


For its part, in February production increased from 16,115 tons to 23,306 tons, that is, a variation of 44.6% year-on-year. In March, tonnage went from 17,775 to 19,221, an increase of more than 8.13%.
In total, cement production in the first quarter of the year was 10,557 tons higher than that produced during the same period in 2023, meaning a jump of around 20% over the total, according to transparency data provided by Ancap.

The cement industry plummeted 27% annually in 2023
In the accumulated annual figure for 2023, Portland production plummeted 27% compared to 2022, continuing with a sustained decline in annual tonnage in recent years.
During the 12 months of last year, the Portland business accumulated a production of 183,583 tons, which means a monthly average of more than 15,298 tons. In the last month of 2022, Portland’s production was 28,016 tons (the highest of that year); while in December 2021, it reached 21,746 tons.
