Four out of five Austrians don’t know how much they pay for their account, a study has shown. But it feels like more than half think the costs are too high.

How much do people actually pay for their account? What do you most often need it for? How much is overdrawn? How often and how much is the account overdrawn? And how much does this overdraft cost?

Economics department head Dietmar Mascher talks about this in his OÖN podcast “Geld&Leben” with Patricia Kasandziev. She is the board director of bank99, which is majority owned by Österreichische Post AG and which also took over 100,000 customers from ING Diba in Austria last year.

In the podcast, Kasandziev also reports on how customers react to the fixed-price accounts offered, the price of which is lowest when the customer does everything online and otherwise largely conducts their business without cash.
