It will still be around three weeks before thousands of people tackle the five-kilometer route again at the 13th Wels Business Run on May 29th. Hermann Kaufmann, who runs the organization together with Franz Sperrer, is already satisfied with the registrations: “We currently have around 1,600 runners, which is actually a little higher than the number at the same time last year.”
Kaufmann expects around 3,500 participants this year: “Some companies will have as many runners as take part in other running events.”
Individually or in a team
As always, registration is possible in several categories: Runners can take part individually or as company or business teams of three. “Company teams only involve employees of one company; business partners, for example, can also take part in a business team,” explains Kaufmann. The rankings are divided into women and men, and there is also a mixed ranking for the teams.
As always, the heart of the business run is the company ranking: what counts here is which company brings the most starters along the route. There is also the “Fronius Apprentice Challenge”, in which the largest apprentice teams are honored. Regular starters like Fronius, the city of Wels and the clinic have a good chance of winning trophies again, and the Greiner company is also increasing its presence this year.
The race starts on May 29th at 7:30 p.m., the starting numbers will be handed out from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in exhibition hall 20. “I’m really looking forward to the run again. It’s always great to see how motivated this huge mass of people are,” says Kaufmann.
Of course, the 3.9 kilometer long Nordic walk should not be missed, and the most original company shirts will also be awarded prizes. After the run, the “Business Run Party” will take place in exhibition hall 20 from 8:30 p.m.

The award ceremony and a raffle with numerous prizes will take place there at 9.30 p.m. “Here, participants have the opportunity to get to know people from their own and other companies better. In my opinion, this is a very important part of the event,” explains Kaufmann.
Regular registration runs until May 16th on the websitewelser-businessrun.at. Anyone who registers by then will receive a personalized starter number. Late nominations are still possible until May 24th.
