Coach resignation at the bottom of the Upper Austrian league, SPG Wels 1b

Jürgen Schatas is leaving Wels

“I’m at my wits’ end,” said Jürgen Schatas, coach of Upper Austrian League bottom side SPG Wels 1b, after Saturday’s 5-0 defeat against penultimate ASK St. Valentin. Days later, the XX-year-old drew the conclusions: Schatas approached the club management with a request to immediately terminate the contract, which ran until the summer.

“We as a club had to comply with this request. Even though we were satisfied with the sustained work of our coach and everyone responsible was aware of the challenge in the second team, Jürgen Schatas did a very good job. We are convinced that his work “We would like to thank him for his patience and ambition to win every game despite the difficult conditions,” says Wels chairman Stephan Holzleitner. Schatas joined SPG Wels in September as Josef Bögl’s successor and was able to show off wins against Dietach and ASK St.Valentin in the fall, among others.

Successor has been determined

“I would also like to thank Jürgen for his commitment and passion. Despite what was not an easy season, he always moved forward. I wish him only the best in his future career, both in terms of sport and in his private life,” says neo-sports director Rene Swete . A successor for the remaining five games has already been chosen: assistant coach Mato Simunovic will end the season on an interim basis.
