According to a survey by the state student representatives and the federal student representative, the mathematics central exam on Tuesday was “more feasible” than in previous years. On a scale of one (very easy) to five (very difficult), the four-and-a-half-hour exams for AHS and vocational secondary schools (BHS) were classified on average at two, it was said upon request.

Only at the commercial academies (HAK) was an example of investment accounting classified as unusual – the topic itself was on the list of possible tasks, but had not been asked in the exams in recent years. A total of around 40,200 exercise books were delivered this year for mathematics (AHS) and applied mathematics (BHS). In Upper Austria, 6,000 high school graduates took the exams.

This year’s round brought slight changes to the BHS: the assessment key was adapted to that of the AHS and the awarding of half points, which according to the ministry has proven successful at high schools, was also introduced across the board at the BHS. In addition, there were now 42 tasks to solve instead of 48.

On Wednesday it’s English’s turn

The Central Matura continues on Wednesday with the English exams. Because of the interruption caused by Ascension Day, the exams are taking a particularly long time this time; Latin and Greek will not be completed until May 16th.

This time the Central Matura is divided into three calendar weeks. In the week starting May 13th, one day each is set aside for French, Italian, Spanish or the minority languages ​​Slovenian, Croatian and Hungarian, as well as for Greek and Latin.
