The two main opponents in the elections communicated by phone to talk about the situation that the Broad Front is going through.
The candidate for National Party and the favorite among the inmates, Alvaro Delgadoexpressed solidarity with the candidate of the Wide Front Yamandu Orsi after learning the truth about the false complaint filed against him for gender violence.
Both are seen as great competition, with both being the favorites within their party. However, Uruguayan solidarity and camaraderie prevailed on this occasion and the white candidate called Orsi by phone to express his support.
“I spoke with him on the phone, telling him that I sympathized with this situation and that it was a good thing that Justice resolved it, as a guarantee for everyone,” Delgado told the press. A fact that was confirmed by Orsi yesterday when he commented that the white candidate had contacted him.
In that sense, Delgado recalled the importance of clean elections, that democracy is respected. “Uruguayans deserve a high-level electoral campaign, with a firm debate of ideas, yes, of course, because we are choosing different paths but, at least on my part, no grievances or getting involved with personal issues or raising my voice,” he remarked.
Previously, the white candidate had spoken on his social networks about it in conjunction with the statement published by the National Party where they announced the expulsion of Romina Celeste PapaSso of the party. “We repudiate all defamation and reaffirm our confidence in what Justice decides,” the politician tweeted.
Orsi wants to get to the bottom of the investigation
Yesterday the candidate gave a press conference where he assured that the false complaint corresponds to a political operation. “This is a political operation that tried to prevent me from being a candidate for the Broad Front. Nothing less than the political party that has a great opportunity to win and a candidate with the possibility of arriving,” Orsi said at a press conference and clarified that he is not talking about parties, but about politics.
In that sense, the pre-candidate assured that he has already started with the corresponding complaints. “From this finding it is clear that we must go to the core. My lawyers filed the complaint for simulation of a crime and defamation,” he assured.
On the other hand, he spoke about the possibility that there was money in the middle of the situation. “It’s hard for me that there wasn’t money to carry it out,” he questioned.
